Cigna Level Funding is a type of self-funding that allows your company to roll your claims funding, stop loss premium, and administrative fees together into predictable, preset payments each month.
How Cigna Level Funding Works
Costs Remain Constant
Employers may enjoy the predictability of having a set monthly payment for their health plans. Regardless of claim activity from month to month, your costs will not fluctuate (except to adjust for enrollment shifts). This can also reduce the risks associated with health care plans and costs.
No Surprises
Terminal funds that are collected as a part of these costs in your first year cover any claims incurred prior to termination and submitted afterward. This means you’ll know your costs up front, eliminating surprises.
Opportunity for Cost Savings
At the end of each year, a settlement is done and if claims are lower than expected, renewing clients are eligible to get 50 percent or more of the savings back in the form of an administrative fee credit. If claims are higher than expected, clients will not have to pay more. Deficits are not carried forward to future years.
More Flexibility
Cigna HealthcareSM will work with you to design a plan that can help lower your costs. You can change and adjust your benefits to meet your employees’ evolving needs. Additionally, most self-funded plans are not subject to state benefit mandates, giving you more control over which benefits are included in your company’s plan.
