Then, it will help explain the importance of self-compassion to combat negative self-talk and ways to implement it.

Supercharging Support for Eating Disorder Recovery
This presentation will bring together voices of lived experience to demonstrate the benefits of integrating mentorship into eating disorder treatment. During eating disorder treatment it’s essential to build trust -- however, this can be exceedingly difficult. Mentorship adds an element of lived experience that can help enhance trust-building. Furthermore, research shows that peer support has a positive impact on both patient and clinician experience and can improve quality of life and decrease psychiatric symptoms associated with a variety of conditions.

Demystifying the Eating Disorder: Understanding Risk, Symptoms, and Treatment
Eating disorders are classified as biopsychosocial illnesses, and thus, a multidisciplinary treatment approach must be taken, that often includes therapy, psychiatry, medical monitoring, and nutrition. This presentation will address these areas by first explaining the different eating disorders diagnoses, including signs and symptoms. It will explore how clients can meet their nutritional needs while challenging harmful diet culture messaging, as well as the psychosocial impacts of social media on body image and self-esteem. Join us to learn best practices when approaching clients about their eating concerns, including assessment tools and evidence-based interventions.
