Online Security Information
- Firewall security and monitoring of unauthorized access attempts. Your account is frozen after five invalid login attempts. Should you forget your password, use the password reset tool which prompts you to answer security questions. Your password will never be displayed on Web pages.
- Requiring use of the most secure browser versions available. Only browsers that support Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and 128-bit can be used to access these Web services. SSL minimizes the likelihood that third parties will read electronic messages between you and Cigna, even if intercepted. If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator/Communicator and do not have version 6.0 or higher, you may download the latest versions of the following browsers:
- Internet Explorer at windows.microsoft.com.
- Netscape Navigator or Communicator at cnet.com
- Firefox at mozilla.com.
- Ending your encrypted session if you become inactive for several minutes after logging in. Built-in timers determine if you have become inactive.
- Requiring login for authentication before returning to a bookmarked page, or when returning to a secure Cigna website after leaving it.
What steps can I take to help ensure the security of my account information?
You share responsibility for maintaining the security of personal account information when using online services. When you finish using a secure Cigna website, always use the logout link in the top right corner of the page to leave the service, then close your browser window.
Also, never share your password. For the continued protection of your account, we encourage you to use the password reset tool on a periodic basis.
How can I tell if my online session with Cigna is encrypted?
Look for a key icon or a padlock icon at the lower right corner of your browser. These icons represent an encrypted session. A broken key or an open lock indicates that the session is not encrypted. (Note that a broken key or open lock might appear when a page loads; the session is still encrypted if the key or lock is present when the page has finished loading.)
