CIGNA's TheraCare® program

What is the TheraCare® program?

TheraCare is a program that works with your patients to help them better understand their condition, medications and their side effects, and why itís important to take medications exactly as prescribed by physicians. It is specifically designed for individuals using specialty medications (injectable medications and certain oral medications) for a number of chronic conditions.

Who is eligible?

The TheraCare program is available to CIGNA customers whose employers have elected to make the program available to its employees and their dependents. To determine if your patient has access to this program, please call the TheraCare team at 1.800.633.6521.

What diseases and / or medications does the TheraCare program support? CIGNA's TheraCare program is designed to support individuals using specialty medications for a number of chronic conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, oncology and hepatitis C, among others.

What are the benefits for my patient?

There are several benefits to your patient enrolling in the TheraCare program. TheraCare can help you and your patient:

  • Monitor for emergence of side effects associated with therapy.
  • Monitor for barriers to adherence to therapy.
  • Coordinate new prescriptions and prescription refills with CIGNA Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Assess adherence to appropriate laboratory monitoring.
  • Coordinate home nursing for individuals with identified disabilities or a need for self-injection training.
  • Gain access to a nurse and technician team who are assigned and dedicated to your patients.
  • Facilitate seamless integration with other programs offered by CIGNA, including Case Management.

What are the benefits for me?

The TheraCare program works collaboratively with you to help your patient maximize outcomes from the therapy you have prescribed. When potential issues are identified, the TheraCare team will notify you.
