Cigna was named to Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens List for 2017. This list recognizes public companies that had outstanding corporate-responsibility performances in 2017. The 100 Best List documents 260 data points of disclosure and performance measures-harvested from publicly available information in seven categories: environment, climate change, employee relations, human rights, governance, finance, and philanthropy & community support. The list ranks the Russell 1000 Index.

The Cigna Foundation provided a World of Difference grant to the Health Advocates In-Reach and Research program (or HAIR) led by the University of Maryland (UMD) Maryland Center for Health Equity to encourage colorectal screenings by using barbers to spread the message. Its success is the reason Cigna has won first place in the “Media Relations/PR Campaign” category of PR Daily’s 2016 Corporate Social Responsibility Awards.
Cigna Named Corporation of the Year by World Affairs Council – Washington, DC
The World Affairs Council-Washington, DC named Cigna its 2015 Corporation of the Year in recognition of best practice by a U.S. multinational company in the global social responsibility sector; citing Cigna's global commitment to corporate social responsibility, diversity, health and fitness as reasons for the recognition.
Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index
Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI) annually rates almost 4,500 American companies and organizations on their policies, benefits, and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees. In 2015, Cigna was recognized as one of only 72 companies considered by the CEI as the best companies for promoting workplace equality for transgender employees.

The organization comprising Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times focused on culture and policies that cater to military veterans when conducting and scoring the sixth annual Best for Vets: Employers survey, a highly respected, nearly 90-question analysis of a company's efforts to connect with veterans and provide an environment for success.
FTSE Group confirms that Cigna has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. 2012 Silver Alexander Hamilton Award
Cigna Global Health Benefits was selected by Treasury & Risk magazine as the 2012 Silver Alexander Hamilton Award Winner in the “Best Green Strategies” category. Cigna was selected for the award based on its successful launch of a paperless, “green” Explanation of Benefits (EOB) document, which outlines for patients the medical treatments and services that are paid on their behalf.
Health disparities are differences in rates of disease, health outcomes or access to health care that are related to many factors. U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin recognized Cigna for its efforts to reduce health care disparities.
Cigna has been a national sponsor of the March of Dimes and its national fundraising campaign (March for Babies) since 1995. Able-bodied volunteers and disabled runners come together to train and run.
